We decided to feature our new Spring window with everything bright and fun! Hopefully the weather will start to cooperate with us a little bit here!

We are receiving all of our new shipments - full of color and inspiring prints. We are loving the mixture of bright kelly green with light wood. The Oeuf Robin crib is the perfect piece to complement a simple, yet fun nursery. The Robin crib is now available in a dark Espresso too ( looks really great with grey hues)! For now, we are loving the birch with it's fresh Spring feel.

The Bump Club and Beyond is an AMAZING concept here in Chicago helping Mom's and soon-to-be-Mom's to connect with each other. They throw wonderful events pulling together the Chicago community and all the wonderful resources needed when starting a family. Oh, and did I forget to mention the out of control giveaways and gift bags?

Here is a little about who and what the Bump club is:

"Since April, 2010, Bump Club and Beyond (formerly Bump Club Chicago) has filled up and sold out over three dozen incredible events for moms and moms-to-be in Chicago! Here is how it all began…
As many of her friends began to have babies, our founder, Lindsay, realized that moms-to-be in Chicago needed a place to meet and connect with one another. Through many pregnancies she watched her friends experience this life stage without having the encouragement of others who also had a belly bump. St. Patrick's Day in Chicago

Today, the Saturday before St. Patrick's day is when all of Chicago watches the river turn green (luckily non toxic and safe for the environment, 40 pounds of vegetable dye to be exact), and parade the streets in their best green outfits. Here at Grow we decided to join in the festivities, in the most baby-friendly, organic and eco-friendly way possible! A List of our favorite GREEN products. For both their color and/or their mission. Enjoy!

Dwell studio all organic sheet: We love it for it's color, softness and worry free since it is made of all organic cotton. Made with azo free and formaldehyde free dyes. They also package their products in these cute little bags eliminating all PVC.

Under the Nile Green Bean teether: We love this teether since it is all organic cotton plus machine washable! Under the Nile also provides fair trade work to villagers in Egypt.

Bloom Alma Crib: This is the first bassinet that suits a child up to two years. Made of all solid non-toxic wood with no VOC paint. Grey and Yellow

With Winter looming, we decided to add a pop of color to the display. We just re-decorated our store front to represent our two new favorite colors, Grey and Yellow.. The result? A beautiful mix. We aren't talking about the old school pale yellow, we are loving the bright, fresh and modern yellow, especially paired with a cool, sophisticated grey. Two great colors that you will never get sick of, or if you do, both are neutral and go great with another punch of color like hot pink for a girl, navy blue for a boy and even orange just to spice it up!

Bumbleride Sale going strong!

Our most popular stroller company, Bumbleride, is still offering their great strollers at a great price. With SO many stroller choices out there it can be overwhelming when it comes to figuring out what stroller will truly be the best fit. You may often hear when testing out strollers "this is the only stroller you'll need". One thing most sales people don't take into consideration is the different needs for different lifestyles. Because Bumbleride carries a few different models they help us to offer the most perfect fit for the blooming family.

Our top selling stroller: The Indie model. It really could be "the only stroller you'll ever need". Considered a jogging stroller, the Indie also reclines all the way back allowing a newborn to stay cozy for long walks. For the quick errand running the Indie's car seat adaptor that comes with the stroller makes for an all terrain snap and go. We love the Indie, and so do our customers!

Next up: The Flite. This is Bumbleride's true umbrella stroller weighing in at 13 pounds. I personally own this stroller for when my niece makes it into the city for the weekend. She is four and we still love it. With front wheels that lock (great for navigating through snow or gravel), we are able to hop on and off the bus and subway. A great savvy city stroller. If you are always on the go and traveling this is for you. The Flite also comes with a carseat adaptor and reclines all the way back, so you are able to use it with newborn and up.

Last but not least: The Indie Twin. This stroller has all the great features as the Indie single, with the bonus as a double. Perfect for twin's or the ever growing family of two. Bump Couture Maternity Trunk Show at Grow

Grow and Bump Couture have teamed up to host a great maternity clothing sale. Bump couture will have their Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer lines available for purchase. The Importance of organic cotton

We often get asked at the store if it is really that necessary to buy organic clothing for your new baby, the answer is yes. While our skin is our largest organ, it is also the most sensitive and, for newborns, very absorbent and vulnerable

Clothing that is not organic is often made with regular cotton which is grown with harmful pesticides, and then later chemically treated with flame retardants and toxic dyes.

There are so many things out there that can overwhelm us when it comes to having a baby, especially their health and well being. Something so simple as choosing organic cotton is just one small step to creating a healthy environment for your child.

One of our favorite eco-friendly furniture lines has been featured in a great article by Home and Garden. This article will be featured tomorrow with the Nursery set up on The WGN Midday show from (11am-12pm) locally on channel 9. The segment will also be airing on the WGN website.

Learn postpartum pilates exercises to help rebuild core abdominal muscles

Swellbeing Smart Sleep Event at Grow on June 22

Janeen Hayward of SwellBeing, a Chicago parenting resource, visited grow for an in-store discussion of smart infant sleep habits that can ensure healthy sleep for parents.

SwellBeing offers individual consultations, discussion groups and workshops on topics ranging from preparation to postpartum to parenting toddlers with the philosophy that parents’ well-being is crucial to child’s. Hayward used her background in clinical psychology and her most recent education as a mother of two girls to counsel guests on the importance of instilling healthy sleep habits in both infants and parents from birth, expounding on the effects of developmental stages and even feeding on sleep patterns.

Establishing “smart infant sleep” requires a certain regimen, says Hayward, but also a flexibility and an acceptance of the inevitable adjustments for a specific child in a specific stage. She explained that age is less important than cognitive ability when it comes to sleep.Hayward offered information and recommendations from the APA, but conveyed an open-mindedness to personal choices when it comes to sleeping environments for infants and toddlers.
